Montreal Canadien's 28th Pick: Best Targets and Trade Scenario

Image
The Montreal Canadiens have had a very successful season. They went from being eliminated in five games during the first round against Washington in 2024–25 to making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals this year, where they lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes. By the end of that run, however, the Canadiens seemed to sort of fizzle out and lost the magic they had in the first and second rounds. Jakub Dobeš can't be the team's saviour forever.   They clearly needed more offence to go up against the hard nosed puck hounds of the Carolina Hurricanes. At times, the Habs looked outmatched and a step below. As it stands today, on the morning of June 24th, prior to any official trades the Atlantic Division is looking even scarier this offseason than it already was, which is saying a lot for the most competitive division in the NHL. We can already see this with a few rival teams filling their needs and gearing up for next season. Specifical...

How trading Brady Tkachuk might have been the best move for the future of the Ottawa Senators

Image
Coming into Fathers Day, the expectation for a captain being traded from his team in the Atlantic was dead set on Dylan Larkin, as he requested a trade from the Detroit Red Wings after a failure of a season. The same cannot be said for Tkachuk, as he demanded his way out and made the Sens trade him for simply futures, grasping at whatever they could get from the Panthers. Tkachuk showed his lack of leadership skills and his willingness to sink the ship after underproducing in the playoffs, waiting a total of 10 days after the Sens were eliminated to force his way out of Ottawa. When Tkachuk requested a trade, with his no movement clause, he gave a grand total of 4 teams that he would accept a trade to. With reports stating that Tkachuk would not resign and would not accept a trade to any of the other 3 teams that he originally stated, he basically forced the Sens hand and created a situation where they had to deal him and get what they could from the Panthers, or let him go i...

Should the San Jose Sharks Pick Ivar Stenberg or Chase Reid second overall?

As the 26th of June looms over the minds of general managers and hockey fanatics alike, there still are major questions to be answered as speculations continue to arise. Specifically, one that continuously is planted in my head, over and over again. Who will the San Jose Sharks take second overall? To say that the Sharks need a game breaker at the defensive position is an understatement. Not to discredit any of the D core, but having a player like Macklin Celebrini allows you to become competitive from the get go. Thus, there are two key options here. Firstly, the Sharks can draft Ivar Stenberg. Stenberg, a 6’0”, 18 year old playing in the SHL, breaking all kinds of records as a LW for Frölunda HC, is a gift in the lap of general managers who are starved for offensive talent with the ability to play a two way game. Stenberg was incredible at both ends of the ice in the SHL, where he put up 33 points in 43 games whilst out producing all time Swedish greats like Peter Forsberg and Nickla...

Why I Started this Blog

To understand why I created Theperspectiveofpucks, you first have to learn who I am. My name is Ayan Janmohamed I am also known in a niche community on my youtube channel as @Thesportsquad0.  As of today I am an 18 year old aspiring business student going to STFX University in Antigonish. This blog will consist of me going over many things that relate to hockey and to share my thoughts about the business side of sports and how different avenues such as how the NHLPA and the CBA (Collective bargaining agreement)  come together to create controversial topics such as the NMC (No movement clause).  With this I have always been very passionate about sports but mainly hockey.  Since the age of 12 I always knew that in the future I wanted to in some way shape the hockey community. Although I never played at a high level I fell in love with the sport and specifically the Montreal Canadiens.  I hope that in time I can create a community that also cares about hockey...
